    - 60 suckler cows of which 30 pure breed poll Hereford cows and their calves
    - 3-5 breeding bulls

    About 150 heads total, depending on the season.

    Natural protected wetland area is used for cattle grazing in summertime. Cows are kept out all the year round and fed by round bales in winter time (8 months). Annual cattle trade is about 40 heads. Bulls are sold to the slaughterhouse when they are over 600kg liveweight (15-20 months) and heifers around 400kg (12-14 months).

    Savijärven luonnonsuojelualueen rantaniittyjä käytetään laiduntamiseen kesällä. Naudat pidetään ulkona koko vuoden ja niitä ruokitaan pyöröpaaleilla talvikaudella (8 kk). Vuosittainen karjan myynti on noin 40 päätä. Sonnit myydään teurastamoon, kun niiden elopaino on yli 600kg (15-20 kk) ja hiehot suunnilleen 400 kiloisina (12-14 kk).

    This trademark guarantees that the meat in question is Finnish Hereford beef of good quality. The origin of the beef is known and welfare of the animals is taken care of.

    Tämä merkki takaa, että kyseessä oleva liha on laadukasta suomalaista Hereford-pihvilihaa. Lihan alkuperä tiedetään ja eläinten hyvinvoinnista pidetään huolta.

    Hereford breeding
    Millola's Hereford cattle thrives outside all year round. Feeding is based on grazing also during winter time, but during the winter the feed needs to be brought .

    Cattle is able to drink all year around fresh water from the nature spring that never frozes. (picture 1)

    Hereford kasvatus
    Millolan Hereford-lehmät viihtyvät ulkona ympäri vuoden. Ruokinta perustuu laiduntamiseen myös talvella. Tosin talvella rehu pitää tuoda erikseen.

    3-4kk:n laiduntamisaikanaan Hereford karja käyttää 70 hehtaarin luonnonsuojelualuetta Savijärven ympärillä.
